Members of the Hindu Makkal Katchi (Tamizhakam) today sent a salt packet to Tamil superstar Rajnikanth to remind him that it was Tamil Nadu that made him what he is today. Rajnikanth had been maintaining stoic silence over the Cauvery issue and the violence that had been plaguing both Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

Rajnikanth, a native of Bengaluru, where he was working as a Government bus conductor, came to Tamil Nadu and became a superstar in Tamil cinema, with millions of fans all over the globe. In a letter attached to the salt packet, sent from the Railway Post Office to his Poes Garden house in Chennai, the activists said that it did not augur well for him to maintain silence over the Cauvery issue, when Tamilians were attacked and their properties damaged during the recent violence in Karnataka.

“At least after consuming this salt, you should remember the salt you have consumed in the last three decades in Tamil Nadu, and your commitment towards the Tamil population,” the letter said.
