Jayalalithaa birth anniversary: CM plants sapling

Chennai: Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Friday planted a sapling at the Government Multi Super Specialty Hospital here to mark the 69th birth anniversary of former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa.

According to an official press release, the Government has initiated a programme of planting 69 lakh tree saplings across the State at a cost of Rs. 65.85 crore.

The statement added that the government has started the project to increase the green cover within and outside the government premises.

At the AIADMK headquarters party leaders paid floral tributes to Jayalalithaa’s portrait.

Meanwhile Jayalalithaa’s niece Deepa Jayakumar told reporters here that she would announce her political plans this evening.​
