DMK Working President M.K. Stalin’s efforts to topple the AIADMK Government did not bear the fruit, Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami said. “As his efforts failed, Stalin is now terming the government as a benami of BJP,” Palaniswami told reporters tonight.

When the DMK was part of the BJP-led Government at the Centre, it did not utter a word. “The DMK did nothing for the welfare of the people when it was in power both at the Centre and State,” he said.

“The AIADMK is providing good governance. The opposition is not able to find fault with it,” he said.

Stating that all steps will be taken to solve the problems being faced by the farmers in the State, he said efforts will be taken to get the low GST rate, so that the traders are not affected

On factionalism in the ruling party, Palaniswami said “We will discuss among ourselves and solve it. It cannot be discussed in the open.”

On setting up AIIMS in the State and reported resignation of MLAs from Madurai, Palaniswami said it could be because they were enthusiastic that the institute be set up in their area. “As announced by Jayalalithaa, AIIMS will be established in the State,” he said.

Similarly, the works for the Avinashi-Athikadavu Project, announced by Jayalalithaa, will also start soon and adequate funds will be released for it, he said, adding that Rs.300 crore additional funds would be allocated for Kudimaramathu projects.

Condemning the deportation of MDMK leader, Vaiko by Malaysian authorities, Palaniswami said that the party MPs will raise the issue in Parliament.
