Parents and the general public laid siege of a school in Tirupur on charges of the school principal beading a Grade III student.

Eight-year-old Vasanth of the panchayat middle school was on a day’s leave on Monday and returned home on Tuesday after and told his parents that he was beaten with a cane by headmistress Kannambal for not having done his homework.

On Wednesday, his parents along with others and laid siege to the school and demand strict action against the headmistress. District administration and polic officials rushed to the school and convened a meeting which decided to look into the matter.
