An all-party delegation today alleged that the district unit of BJP was collecting Rs.100 from the public with the application for housing under Prime Minister Housing Scheme and wanted to know whether the scheme was that of the Government or that of BJP.

Led by Thanthai Periyar Dravida Kazhagam General Secretary K. Ramakrishnan, the delegation told reporters after submitting a petition to District Collector that the BJP has collected 40,000 applications along with Rs.100 each from the applicants so far.

“Despite the District Collector T.N. Hariharan cautioning against collecting money for the scheme, the BJP, under the leadership of State General Secretary Vanathi Srinivasan is taking money along with the application,” Ramakrishnan said.

Former CPI MLA and party District Treasurer M. Arumugam wanted to know whether the scheme was that of the Government or that of BJP.

District leaders of DMK, CPI-M, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal and Congress who were among the delegation, wanted Hariharan to take stringent action against such illegal activities.
