Mysuru: Trouble is brewing for the BJP in Varuna and Mysuru after BS Yeddyurappa on Monday announced that his son, BY Vijayendra, will not be contesting from the constituency. Yeddyurappa’s announcement in Nanjangud caught the BJP workers completely off-guard.

After the announcement, angry workers began vandalising the venue as a helpless Yeddyurappa pleaded for calm. The state party chief said that it was his decision and it had the backing of the party high command.

But it had no effect on the workers. According to reports, Vijayendra had been camping in the area for a month and interacting with the locals to build a rapport. Hence, the announcement took everyone by surprise.

The question on everybody’s lips is: if you wanted to deny him ticket, why wait for so long? The high command has not reacted and given any reason but fingers are being pointed at party’s internal politics and at Yeddyurappa’s enemies within the party.

If that wasn’t enough, senior leaders in the party have said that they would resign and vote for the JD(S) candidate if the decision wasn’t reversed.
