Wolters Kluwer hosted a conference to bring together industry leaders to discuss tax reforms and their implications on the Indian economy

Wolters Kluwer, a global leader in information services and solutions, organized a conference “Tax Reforms: Driving Transparency and Uniformity” in New Delhi yesterday. It was focused on the recent tax reforms in India and their impact on the Indian economy. The conference’s Guest of Honor, Justice A.K. Sikri – Judge, Supreme Court of India, and Chief Guest, Shri Arun Jaitley, Hon’ble Minister of Finance, Defence and Corporate Affairs, launched a book titled “Concise Commentary on Income Tax” authored by Dr. Girish Ahuja and Dr. Ravi Gupta, amidst several leading professionals from tax and accounting industry.

Speaking at the conference, Shri Arun Jaitley said, “I congratulate the esteemed authors on the launch of the book. I think it is about time that we, in India, change our attitude towards taxation. You need to be reasonable in your rates, you need to be reducing the compliance burden as far as procedures are concerned, you need to use more technology to ensure that the physical contact between the assessee and assessing authority doesn’t exist or is minimised. Today the mantra as far as taxation is concerned is that it will pay you, to be honest.”

Speaking about the book, the author Dr. Girish Ahuja said, “The most unique feature of our book is that it comprehends the vast gamut of Income Tax Provisions in just two volumes, unlike others. It also provides extremely useful tips for tax planning. We have included a gist of relevant CBDT Circulars and Notifications and amendments made by the Finance Act 2017 which are highlighted separately, while discussing close to 1600 recent cases.” Dr. Ravi Gupta further added, “Our book offers readers in-depth understanding on the subject and we are certain about receiving a positive response for this book.”

Commenting on the impact of various tax reforms on the economy and company’s various solutions in India, Mr. Shireesh Sahai, CEO, Wolters Kluwer India, said, “India has undergone generational changes with sweeping reforms including the Companies Act, IFRS-Based Accounting Standards, GST and Insolvency & Bankruptcy Code. These warrant deep expertise and knowledge for professionals to ensure compliance with accuracy, efficiency, and ease. At Wolters Kluwer, we offer a suite of integrated and specialized tax and accounting solutions such as CCH iFirm, GST online, Direct tax online and content to help professionals navigate the increasing global and local complexities in the field of taxation and accountancy. This book is one of the additions in our portfolio which a tax practitioner will find of immense value.”

In India, Wolters Kluwer has been supporting accounting and healthcare professionals across governments, public, and private sectors for over a decade with vital insights, intelligent tools, and subject matter expertise to help them keep up to date, drive performance, mitigate risks, manage complex compliance requirements, and make critical decisions thus helping professionals navigate the dynamic landscape while enhancing their productivity and client counsel abilities.
