The 16th edition of Chander Memorial Rally – 2016 for four-wheelers is scheduled to be held here from February 6.
According to J. Prithviraj, President, Coimbatore Auto Sports Club, who is the organiser of the event, the two-day rally, which is run on Time, Speed and Distance format, is dedicated to late M.K. Chander, who had represented famous teams like TVS Suzuki and MRF.
He told reporters here today that this year’s event covered a distance of approximately 120 km. The maximum average speed would be 45 km per hour and the minimum 15 kmph through crowded areas, he said.
Stating that about 40 to 50 teams are expected to take part in this four category event, including separate ‘All Ladies’ class, Prithviraj said that there would be secret check points enroute to monitor the speeds and every second was liable for penalty whether they were running late or early.
The route would be mainly in rural areas like Sulur, Papampatti and Vadachithur.
