3 more arrested in the Mettupalayam ‘honour killings’

Coimbatore : Three more persons were arrested for their alleged involvement in the ‘honour killings’ in nearby Mettupalayam five days ago.

A man Vinod Kumar had already been arrested for hacking his younger brother Kanagaraj to death on June 25 and critically injuring his teenage lover Varshini Priya, a Dalit, who died at the Government Hospital yesterday, after four days’ treatment.

The parents and relatives of Varshini had demanded the arrest ofothers involved in the incident before accepting the body after postmortem at the hospital.

Police arrested Aiyappan, Kandavelu and Chinnaraj this morning and after interrogation they were remanded to custody, police said.
