61-year-old trampled to death

A 61-year-old man was trampled to death near Pandalur, some 80 km from here today.
Narayanasamy and his wife, Malarvizhi were walking through a estate belonging TANTEA this afternoon, when a wild elephant came in front of them, police said.
While Malarvizhi (50) ran for safety, the elephant caught hold of Narayanasamy and trampled to death, police added.
One of his legs was pulled apart by elephant, which ran to jungles after estate workers raised alarm. Forest officials rushed to the spot, they said.
