As many as 855 candidates appeared for the Indian Army written exams held at the Nehru Stadium here on Sunday.
According to officials of the Indian Army, 976 candidates from 11 districts including Coimbatore, Tirupur and Nilgiris, have applied for various postings in the Indian Army, including soldiers, field nursing assistants, and office workers.
With the medical examinations and physical tests having been completed previously, the selected candidates were invited for a written exam on Sunday at the Nehru Stadium. “We have tightened invigilation in the arena to avoid malpractices. Anybody found involving in proxy will be dealt with strictly,” said an official.
He further added that select candidates will be undergoing training for a period of six months, after which they will be posted at army bases all over the country.
