Coimbatore : The demonstration and agitation by Puducherry Chief Minister, V Narayanaswamy and his ministers is not surprising especially when the polls are around the corner, Union minister of State for finance, Pon Radhakrishnan said today.

This type of agitation is a clear ‘ indication for elections’ and common when the polls are around, Radhakrishnan told reporters at the City Airport.

To a question on DMK chief M K Stalin extending support to the agitation, he likened it to the Australian birds migrating to India seeking greener pasture.

To another question on BJP talks for alliance for Lok Sabha polls, he said that negotiations were on with a few parties.

To another question on AIADMK MP M Thambidurai’s criticism of the Centre, Radakrishnan said that he is close friend and they spoke to each other daily.

There will not be any problem in the talks of alliance with any parties, he said.

“It can be true if BJP national general secretary Muralidhar Rao said so,” he said when pointed out that the alliance is likely to be announced in a couple of days.

Tamil Nadu is an important State and Centre has given many schemes for the benefit of the State, he said.
