DMK treasurer and Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly M.K. Stalin has said that an interim chief minister or a deputy chief minister be appointed to take decisions on various issues, including Cauvery water dispute, considering Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s present health condition.

Addressing media persons in Thanjavur today, Stalin said that he did not want to politicise the issue though contradictory statements were doing rounds on Jayalalithaa’s health.

It was his personal wish that the Chief Minister recovers fast and gets back to work soon. “This is also the wish and feeling of DMK chief Karunanidhi. There is no contradictory view about it,” he added.

The medical reports issued by Apollo Hospitals, however, indicated that the Chief Minister required treatment and a longer stay in the hospital. “Till she gets alright, somebody should be appointed either as an interim chief minister or deputy chief minister to take decisions to the issues pertaining to Tamil Nadu,” Stalin added.
