Candidate files nomination dressed up as joker for Sulur contituency

Coimbatore : An independent candidate, Noor Mohammed, dressed up as a joker Monday filed his nominations to the Sulur Assembly constituency which goes to polls on May 19.

Noor Mohammed, a resident of Sundarapuram in the city, has created a sort of record by contesting 31 elections-both Lok Sabha and Assembly–as independent for the last 20 years,choosing different methods to come to the electoral office, while filing nominations.

For the 32nd time, he chose to dress up as a clown with colour dresses and submitted his nomination to electoral officer.

Another candidate Kathiresan also filed nomination.

While, DMK named former state minister, Pongalur N Palanisamy for the seat, AMMK announced Sukumar as its candidate and AIADMK is yet to select the candidate for the constituency, which fell vacant following the death of AIADMK MLA, Kanagaraj.
