Carry out door-to- door check in area where covid-19 cases reported: SP Velumani

Coimbatore : Municipal Administration minister, S P Velumani Wednesday directed the health department to carry out door to door checkup in areas, from where Covid-19 cases were reported.

Similarly, all those who are home-quarantined for 14 days on their arrival from other States and Countries, by road and flight, should be
monitored from time to time, Velumani told a meeting to review the Covid-19 situation in the district.

The officials from Health, Police and Revenue department should also coordinate and monitor the centres set up of State border areas, he said.

Stating that Tamil Nadu was carrying out the highest number of tests for coronavirus in the Country, Velumani said that 23,486 persons were tested in Coimbatore district alone so far.

The district has so far reported 166 cases of which 148 patients were already discharged and only 16 persons are undergoing treatment
(with two deaths) in ESI Hospital and private hospitals.

District Collector, K Rajamani, Police Commissioner, Sumit Saran, Coimbatore Medical College Hospital Dean Dr Kalidas and ESI Hospital Dean, Dr Nirmala were present at the review meeting.
