Case against 125 in Coimbatore for violating SC order on cracker bursting

Coimbatore : Cases have been registered against 336 persons for violating the Supreme Court order on bursting crackers in Coimbatore and nearby Tirupur districts.

In the city, cases were registered against 125 persons of which 29 were arrested and let on bail, police said today.

Similar cases were registered against 59 persons. They were arrested and released on bail in rural limits of Valparai, Pollachi, Periyanaickenpalayam, Perur and Karumathampatti, police said.

While Section 188 of IPC was registered for disobedience or order duly promulgated by a public servant, Section 285 was for negligent conduct in respect to fire or combustible matter. In nearby Tirupur district, 152 persons were arrested for violating the orders and later released on bail.
