Child dies of dengue, fever claims three lives

Coimbatore : Four persons died of different types of fever, including a five-year-old suffering from dengue, in the last 12 hours here.

According to hospital sources, five-year-old Amuthan from Variety Hall Road in the city had symptoms of dengue and was undergoing treatment in the Government Hospital.

However, without responding to treatment, he died around midnight yesterday, they said.

Similarly, Vasantha (62) of Tirupur was suffering from fever and was admitted to the hospital on October 31. Tests revealed she had H1N1 (swine flu). She died early today.

Sumitra, (35) of Coonoor in Nilgiris District was admitted to the Government Hospital here. However she died in the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, they said.

Ganesan (57), a cable operator from Tirupur was admitted to a private hospital as he was suffering from swine flu and died in the early today, police said.

According of hospital sources, 11 persons are undergoing treatment for H1N1, four for dengue and 52 for fever.
