City-based entrepreneur, independent filmmaker and a 2024 lok sabha election independent candidate from Coimbatore Parliamentary constituency Arunkanth announced the launch of Indiema.in, a revolutionary social media platform designed to prioritize creativity and genuine communication over follower counts and paid promotions.

Developed by Arunkanth’s, Info Pluto Media Works Pvt. Ltd., the platform aims to reshape the social media landscape with a “content-first” approach. After two and a half years of research, Indiema.in was created to be a space where the quality of content—not the popularity of the creator—is what matters most. The platform’s core philosophy is to showcase and spread genuine ideas and information while eliminating the pressure to amass followers.

During a press meet, Arunkanth stated that Indiema.in operates on several unique principles that set it apart from traditional social media. Users can consume contents posted by creators without having the need to be their followers. Indiema.in is built on a foundation of inherent connectivity. “Everyone is connected by default,” he explained. “There are no friend requests to follow a creator.

The platform gives users full control over their feeds. Creators must categorize their posts, and users can actively choose the topics they want to see, as well as use “negative filters” to eliminate content they don’t wish to see. The site’s algorithm will not prioritize or “dump” hyped content into feeds. The goal is to show content to those who will appreciate it, not to those who will simply scroll by without purpose.

When users browse the platform, the content is displayed first, with the creator’s identity revealed only after the user expresses interest. This encourages exploration based on substance rather than celebrity. To maintain a high standard of quality, creators must follow a defined structure for each post, including a proper title and description. This ensures that every piece of content is thoughtful and organized. Users can easily view the latest posts from creators in a specific geographic location, from a single pincode to an entire state, making it a powerful tool for local community engagement.

All content on Indiema.in has a maximum validity of 30 days before it vanishes. This promotes the continuous sharing of new ideas, creations, and information. To combat negativity and trolling, the platform does not allow public comments on posts. Users can share their appreciation or provide constructive criticism by creating their own posts that link back to the original content they liked. Paid promotion is also strictly prohibited, ensuring that all content gains visibility organically based on its merit.

While viewing content is completely free, creators must pay an annual subscription fee of Rs. 1000 to post on the platform.

It is noteworthy to mention that with just a click of a button, groups like Alumni Associations, NGOs, Charitable Organizations, can create their very own private network with all the above stated features in a professional way.

Indiema.in will be open to new users starting Wednesday. The platform is poised to become a destination for artists, entrepreneurs, and anyone seeking a more meaningful and purposeful social media experience.

“During the 2025 Independence Day, hon’ble PM Modi challenged the youth of our country to create desi social media platform. We were working on creating one for almost 2 years before that. Now, if our PM joins in our platform, it would give a tremendous boost to us. We are just curious whether he will join,” says Arunkanth.
