For decades, New Year’s Celebration events have mostly been an occasion for friends and couples, with liquor and dancing taking the spotlight.

This trend appears to be never-ending but a Coimbatore-based Tourism organization looks to change this and make it a family-friendly event.

Triumph Expeditions, with more than 20 years of experience in tourism sector is going to organize a unique New Year’s Eve Celebration without alcohol around Valankulam lake areas this year, where it will bring in numerous free entertainment programs for the public.

Speaking to the press and media at a press conference on Thursday, Suresh Kumar, Founder & CEO, Triumph Expeditions said that this event is held in association with Coimbatore Smart City Ltd., with the view to promote Coimbatore and popularize liquor-free New Year Celebrations.

The programs will be happening around Valankulam Lake area. More than 50,000 participants are expected to attend the celebrations.The gates will open at 6:30 p.m., and the public can take part in the Street Carnival. The kids can take part in unlimited fun- filled activities like Slides, Bounce House, Ball Pool etc.

There will be ample stage shows ; playback singers Nikil Mathew and Anitha will perform, Super Singers Sonia and Shenbagaraj too will join. There will be stand up comedy by Aathavan (Vijay TV), Mimicry by Amudhavanan (Vijay TV), DJ music, Juggling, etc.

Some of the highlights of the event include a first-ever public drone show in Coimbatore with 300 drones. It will last for 10-13 minutes.

Following that, Laserand LED light show will take place for 15 mins. 20,000 LED balloons that are tied to the rails of the floating deck at Valankulam lake. At the end, 1000+ Sky Laterns will be released at the event, filling the night sky with colors and bringing a beautiful glow across the lake.

120 private security personnel will be on ground. All bags will be thoroughly checked to avoid carrying of liquor and drugs inside the venue. The Coimbatore City Police will also be offering security.

District Collector, City Corporation Commissioner, City Police Commissioner and other higher officials are expected to attend this celebration. The whole event will be over by 12:30 p.m. It was conveyed that Triumph Expeditions will be spending almost Rs.4 crore on this entire event and charges nothing for entry to the event or enjoying these shows except for food.

The agenda behind this initiative is to break the stereotype and set a new trend in celebrating New Year.
