The District Collector, Archana Patnaik, today chaired a meeting to discuss the strategy to capture the rogue elephant that has been creating panic in the Madukkarai forest range for the last one year.
Following complaints from people, especially farmers, the principal chief conservator of forests ordered to trans locate the elephant that has killed three persons and destroyed crops worth lakhs.
Senior forest officials and veterinarians from Coimbatore and Nilgiris were deputed to the range to commence the operations.
Meanwhile another kumki (trained elephant) Paari from Chadivayal camp joined another kumki Vijay from Mudumalai reserve for the purpose.
District Forest Officer K. Periyasami and District Revenue Officer Christ Raj attended the meeting.
