A high-risk cardiac surgery was conducted at PSG Hospital under the Chief Minister’s Health Scheme.
A 55-year-old manual labour from Pollachi was admitted to hospital after developing respiratory problems. Doctors diagnosed it to be a case of a leak in the heart valve.
Team from the department of cardiothoracic and vascular surgery conducted the operation to replace the aortic valve and reimplant the coronary artery. This risky procedure is known as Bentall’s procedure. The operation which took five hours was done under Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme.
The patient who was discharged on seventh day after surgery his cardio vascular function was normal, hospital sources said.
