A 34-year-old construction worker was murdered by her live-in partner in broad day light at Tiruppur on Tuesday.

Thangammal, who walked out of her husband’s house in Thoothukudi four years ago, was working as a construction worker in Tiruppur. She has two daughters – Keerthana and Nandhini from her first marriage.
She developed relationship with Pandi and was living with him for the last four months.
Police said Thangammal and Pandi quarrel over an issue and she came to her elder daughter’s house.

On Tuesday morning, when she was on her way to work, Pandi waylaid her and the two had a quarrel. In a fit of rage, he attacked her with a sickle and fled the spot. Passersby rushed Thangammal to the Tiruppur Government Hospital, where doctors declared her ‘brought dead’.

Police registered a case under Sections 302 and 371 of IPC. A special team has been formed to nab Pandi. The murder has shocked the entire town, police said.

In another incident, a 27-year-old woman from Nilgiris district was attacked by her husband in Pandalur on Monday. Sincy, who was seriously injured in the attack, is undergoing treatment.
