Corporates urged to contribute to housing for all scheme

Coimbatore : Tamil Nadu Municipal Administration Minister S P Velumani Saturday urged the corporate sector to contribute to the Housing for All Scheme.

“Tamil Nadu government is doing everything possible to implement the scheme. And if Corporates can contribute, more people from the poorer sections of the society will be benefited,” Velumani said.

ACC has recently constructed 100 houses for the poor and if the Corporate can help in such projects, there will be more beneficiaries, he said, while addressing a summit organised by CII Southern Region here.

Speaking about various projects coming up in Coimbatore, Velumani pointed out that 400 acre CODISSIA industrial park project, extension of the defence corridor and airport expansion plan for which Rs.75 crores had been given to
land owners as the first instalment,will lead to industrial development and generate more employment.

B K Krishnaraj Vanaravarayar, Chairman, Kumaraguru College of Technology, in his address talked about the Gandhian economy and how Coimbatore corporates have contributed to the development of the city.

He mentioned how various people and companies like Rathnasabapathy Mudaliar, PSG Groups, LMW and SNR contributed to the city’s growth and development.

The summit on CSR experience and impact with focus on “Reviving innovative and successful models for sustainable tomorrow,” had various sessions focusing on various aspects of CSR Activites.
