Coimbatore, July 16, 2026 – Crafts Council of Tamil Nadu – CCTN was inaugurated in the year 1988, in Coimbatore. CCTN’s main objective is to promote and preserve the Craft traditions of our state and country. To that effect we provide help in areas of design development, packaging and marketing for Artisans.

Crafts Bazaar our flagship event is conducted every year in Coimbatore, for craftspeople from all over India. The Bazaar is one of its kind in the City and gives an opportunity to Master Craftspeople, Artisans & Weavers to showcase and sell their crafts, to a large number of customers under one roof. This provides ample opportunity for the public to interact and buy directly from these Master Craftspeople & Weavers, and also in turn provides exposure and feedback for new product development, packaging & pricing to the Artisan’s benefit of sustained livelihood. The Stalls are provided at a very minimal cost (mainly to ensure commitment to be present at the Bazaar) for 6 days.

Nambikkai meaning hope / belief in Tamil, is an initiative by CCTN to support a group of Artisans, by way of their travel, logistics and participation at the Bazaar. This initiative was started in the year 2023 to give opportunity to deserving Talented Craftspeople who do not have the easy means to commit financially in relation to the Travel & related costs to be present at the Bazaar.

This year we have;

· Buriya Trust from Tiruvannamalai, a cluster for Lambadi embroidery. This is CCTN’s ongoing project, working in the areas of design development and marketing, empowering more women to practise this craft, thus enabling them financially.

· Shell Craft a slowly languishing Craft, from the Kanyakumari Dist.

· Mulagumoodu Convent Embroidery – a ‘close to the heart’ craft form which is an example of the beautiful confluence of our Traditional hand skills with sensibilities inspired by the Victorian Era of our Country

· Handloom Cotton Sarees – From Weavers of Udumalpet, who have been struggling to keep up with the influx of power loom in the market.

Additionally, this year we have extended this support to a select number of Artisans who had the unfortunate experience of being affected by a massive fire at Dastakar, Delhi resulting in complete loss of their yearlong hard work & suffered huge financial impact.

Affected by the Dastakar Fire

· Afghanistan Kilims & Carpets

· Sandhur Kushala Kendra – Lambadi Embroidery, Karnataka

· Bent Handicrafts – Cane & Bamboo Craft, Assam

· Chinar Valley – Hand painted metal products & Papier Mache, Kashmir
