District level Hon’able CM Trophy tournaments held in Nilgiris

Learners Basketball Club, Gudalur, were champions in the men’s category and Nazareth Convent High School, Ooty, in the Women’s category at the Hon’able Chief Minister’s Trophy tournaments organised by the Sports Development Authority Of Tamil Nadu in the Nilgiris.

Four men teams and three women teams took part in the tournament held at the HADP Open Air Stadium, Ooty, late last month.

Runnymede Sports Club, Coonoor, and Chamraj Higher Secondary School, Chamraj Estate, were champions in the men’s and women’s hockey tournament, respectively.

The matches were held at Yedapalli Government Higher Secondary School on December 6 and 7.

The price money of Rs 1,000 went to the champions while the first runnerup got Rs 750 and the second runnerup Rs 500.

District Sports and Youth Welfare Officer HT Kumar said the best of players would be selected to represent the district at the State level where winning team gets Rs 1 lakh and the runnersup Rs 75,000 and third team Rs 50,000.
