A drug awareness rally targeting students was held here, according to City Police Commissioner A Amalraj.
The Narcotics Intelligence and Criminal Investigation Division of the city police organised the rally here along with Friends of Police where more than 700 students from five colleges participated.
The rally, flagged off by Amalraj, started from Commissioner’s office and ended at VOC Ground via Avinashi Road. Students raised anti-drug slogans.
“Students who are staying hostel and away from homes are mainly the ones using drugs. Dealers focus on students. And so it is important to create awareness among students,” said Amalraj
“This is a good initiative. Police personnel explained about drugs and its ill-effects,” said one of the participants.
