Coimbatore, February 6, 2024 – Drug free Kovai – a World record created by Coimbatore City Police and Park Institutions for highest number of digital pledges against drug abuse to create awareness about use of Drugs among the college students of Coimbatore.

The college students signed the pledge digitally. 1,12,375 pledges were accepted for the record out of 1,37,,294 pledges received. This initiative and registration is recognised as world record by World Records Union. World Records Union will certify the record on 06 Feb 2024. 180 colleges from Coimbatore District took part in this initiative. The campaign was officially launched on 26 Jun 2023, the International Day Against Drug Abuse and digital pledge was launched on 12 Sep 2023. The campaign came to an end on 31 Jan 2024. By end of December 2023 the pledges have crossed 1 Lakh. The respresentative of World Records Union Mr. Christopher Taylor Craft will present the record certification to Coimbatore City Police and Park institutions.

colleges who took part in this record campaign will be honored by Coimbatore city police commissioner thiru Balakrishnan .v and Superindentent of police thiru V. Badrinarayanan Apart from this, select students around 1000 from all the participating colleges will be selected and inducted as drug free Kovai ambassadors to create awareness and monitor among the students. They will be the Ambassadors at their premises for DFK. The students will also be provided with a help line number – The certification ceremony will be held at Park Institutions Karumathampatti campus Auditorium on 06 Feb 2024 by 14.00 hrs.
