Drunk trainee doctor creates ruckus at GH

A trainee doctor at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital created ruckus on the hospital premises, reportedly under the influence of liquor.
According to police, Selvavel, who was assigned duty in the Family Planning Section,was found drunk on Sunday night around 10 p.m. When the other duty doctors and nurses tried to quieten him down, he continued to disturb the patients.
The police arrived on being informed and took him out and made him to lie down after 2 p.m. However, he returned after some time and started abusing the police. Doctors managed to catch hold of him and administered him an injection to sober him up. Later he was also given a sleeping dose.

When Selvavel woke up in the morning, he claimed that he was manhandled by the police
and sought immediate action against those who hit him. Moreover, he also claimed that he had consumed liquor because he was not on duty.
Meanwhile, Dean, Dr. Edwin Joe arrived at the hospital and took Selvavel to his cabin
and reportedly conducted an inquiry, police said.
