COIMBATORE: Carcass of a five-year-old elephant was found in the septic tank of a private hotel in Bokapuram, 80 km from Udhagamandalam. On information, the forest department officials, who rushed to the spot, found the dead elephant, with its leg stuck in the septic tank, police said.

Officials suspect that the pachyderm might have tried to come out, but failed in its attempt as the hind legs caught in the septic tank and died.

The department is interrogating the hotel staff, since the tank was very close to the kitchen.
