Feeding rooms opened at 5 bus stands

Feeding rooms were opened at five bus stands in Coimbatore city by the Chief Minister Jayalalithaa from Chennai secretariat through video conferencing on Monday as part of observing World Breast Feeding week that falls betweenAugust 1 to 8.

The State Government is taking various efforts to reduce infant mortality rates by conducting series of awareness programmes. The government had recently constructed feeding rooms at all the bus stands across the State and they were inaugurated by the Chief Minister through video conferencing.

At Coimbatore , the feeding rooms have come up at  town bus stand at Gandhpuram, mofussil bus stand at Gandhipuram, Ukkadam bus stand, State Express Transport Corporation bus stand at Gandhipuram and Singanallur bus stand . The CM also opened mother’s milk bank  at Coimbatore Medical College Hospital.

Following the inauguration of feeding rooms, the Coimbatore Corporation Mayor P Rajkumar distributed sweets to public. MLAs T Malaravan, Deputy Mayor S Leelavathi Unni and other officials took part in the function.
