Four persons, hailing from Pudukottai, were arrested on Tuesday for murdering a 75-year-old man and looting Rs.10 lakh worth banian rolls from a godown near Palladam in Tirupur district a week ago.

The man was found murdered, with hands and legs tied on November 12 in a godown and Rs.10 lakh worth banian rolls missing.

CCTV footage revealed the presence of a goods van near the godown, which was found to be a stolen vehicle and later abandoned near Karur, police said.

Further investigation revealed the involvement of one Suresh, a milk van driver, hailing from Kulathur in Pudukkottai district and working in Tirupur. His three accomplices, Bharathi,
Kumaravelu and Murugan, were nabbed on Monday night.

Further interrogation revealed their involvement in the murder and loot, part of which was either sold or pledged. On information, police recovered Rs. six lakh worth banian materials from
Inamkulathur in Pudukkotai, they said.

All the four were produced before a court and remanded in custody and lodged in the Central jail here, police added.
