Free cloth store for inpatients of Government Hospital

Coimbatore : In a unique initiative, a city-based NGO has opened a store in Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH)–here to provide free clothes to the inpatients.

There are nearly 2,500 inpatients in different wards at the hospital and the Chandrans Yuva Foudnation does not not want the inpatients look brigh only on the day of Deevavali, but on all other days also, its director, Sasikala said.

The shop was opened on Friday last, with hundreds of new clothes and the inpatients were surprised when volunteers started distributing the clothes, she said.

The foundation members have recently painted the walls at Ukkadam bus stand with heritage and land mark in and around the city.

Stating that the foundation had already installed a sanitary napkin vending machine on the hospital premises, Sasikala said that this was the second unique cause initiating a free cloth store (First Unique and Free Benefits for Inpatients) at a space of 10 x10.

This will be a permanent store at the venue to take care of the inpatients, she said.

CMCH had given the inpatient details, based on that we had purchased new clothes for women, men and kids. We will check the admit card and other details of he inpatients, based on the similar process, we will continue giving the free clothes,” she said.
