Girls bag top six ranks in TNAU admission test

Girls have outdone boys, securing the first six ranks in the admission to the under-graduate courses in Tamil Nadu Agricultural University. Counselling for general category will be held on June 19.

Agriculture Minister R Doraikannu will issue the admission letters to the selected candidates the same day, University Vice-Chancellor, Dr K Ramasamy said.

About the list released this afternoon, Ramasamy said there were 53,047 applications of which 49,030 were successful with 21,015 males and a transgender.

On rank aggragate, Kiruthika (BC), Keerthana Ravi (open) Shobila B (BC) Sowmiya (ST), Chakshine S (BC) and Aarthi SN (BC) secured full 200 marks, while Balaji S (BC), Tamilrasu (MBC/DNC), Shenbageswaran (BC) and Poornima(BC) secured 199.75 marks were in the top 10.

While 100 candidates secured 199 marks, 200 secured 198.5, 300-198.25, 400 got 198, 500 got 197.75, 1,000 secured 196.75, 2,000 got 195.25, 3,000 got 194 and 10,000 above 186 marks.

Transgender Rajesh R of Pettalayam in Pudukottai district is ranked 177.

Counselling for special quotas, like NRI, ex-servicemen, sports and disabled will be held on June 16, he said.

Two new agriculture colleges had been sanctioned this year — one in Gudiyattam and another in Tiruvannamalai. Permission for running colleges will be temporarily withdrawn for three to four institutions as they lacked the stipulated infrastructure and other facilities, he added.
