Chennai: Tamil Nadu Governor C Vidyasagar Rao today evening met two senior ministers and the Chief Secretary to discuss the Cauvery water issue and the general administration of the state, said the Raj Bhavan.

A statement issued here stated that Finance Minister O Panneerselvam, Minister for Public Works, Highways and Minor Ports Edappadi K Palaniswamy and Chief Secretary P Rama Mohana Rao met the governor at his request.

Rao enquired about the health of Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, who was admitted to Apollo Hospital on September 22. He also enquired about the arrangements made for the visit of the high-level technical committee on the Cauvery water issue constituted by the Union Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, and the information to be presented to it on protecting the Tamil Nadu farmer’s welfare.

Palaniswamy explained in detail the arrangements and related matters, according to the statement. Chief Secretary Rao briefed the governor about day-to-day administrative affairs.

Public speculation was rife as to the purpose of the meeting as it was called a day after Apollo Hospitals said Jayalalithaa will require a longer stay at the hospital.
