Hundred-and-fifteen girls attended the “Train the trainer” programme for the “Happy Child and Safe Touch Awareness” project conducted by Aram Foundation Charitable Trust in association with women empowerment cell of Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science for Women.

R V Ramya Bharati IPS, chief guest for the event, in her speech said, “Child abuse is something which doesn’t get reported because the child itself is not able to identify abuse. By taking part in this training, you are going to do great service to the society.”

She further added, “Such instances lead to bigger crimes so if people and children are aware about it and report it on time, then our society can be made a safe place for citizens.”

The session was conducted by Latha Sundaram, Managing Trustee, Aram Foundation. While training the girls, she said, “When you go into the field, you have to teach the kids about good touch and bad touch. If they face bad touch, guide them to follow the three steps – Say No, Run, Seek Help.”

K Chitra, Principal, Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science for Women, in her presidential address said, “You are given a golden opportunity to empower people to talk about such a sensitive issue; you should do it with all your heart.”
