Held while searching for hidden treasure

Ten persons, part of a 20-member group, were taken into custody for interrogation, while they were digging in a private farm in search of treasure in a village near Annur in the rural limits, today.

Based on information that there was hidden treasure in the farm of one Palanisamy of Allapalayam, some 35 km from here, a group of 20 persons, trespassed and started digging after sacrificing a hen in the early hours, police said.

Learning about the incident, the villagers surrounded the gang and held them. In the
melee 10 persons managed to escape while others were handed over to police.

Police are interrogating them, they said.
