Tamil Nadu IT Minister Palanivel Thiagarajan inaugurated the new building of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) in Coimbatore.

The inauguration of this 13,000 sq.ft., 3-storied building took place in the presence of Ramesh Babu, MD & CEO, Karur Vysya Bank, the Guest of Honor, Manish Gupta, President and Narasimhan, Vice President, ICSI and several other dignitaries. It was conveyed that there are 70,000 qualified ICSI members today. 2 lakh+ students are pursuing the rigorous 3-level CS course via ICSE now.

Addressing the gathering, Manish Gupta said that this establishment has been built meticulously; the classes, research works and the member-programs from here will give a new dimension to the Coimbatore Chapter, and Coimbatore would be above and leading from the front.

While talking to the press and media, he said that ICSI has signed a MoU with the Defence Ministry in order to provide free enrollment to interested Agniveer Jawans.

Speaking at the inaugural event, Minister Palanivel Thiagarajan said that better institutions build better nations, hence building quality institutions are very vital for a nation’s growth.

He said that since the late 1990s and early 2000s, a lot of advanced economies and societies have started to see a deterioration in the quality of their institutions.

As a consequence we have seen a huge crisis in the financial markets and in geopolitics. We have started to see a decline and decay in economic and democratic outcomes, that is, keeping society together equitably.

Institutions with value create better democracies and therefore lead to growth, better quality of life for citizens. He called ICSI such an institution with value, and expressed he is glad to come here for it and for the city of Coimbatore, which he called one of Tamil Nadu’s production powerhouses.
