The Wildlife Safety Net Trust and the Covai West Unit of Rotary Club jointly organized a tree plantation programme in memory of late President Abdul Kalam on the bund of Covai Kurichikulam, as a part of fulfillment of his dream project. The progamme was attended by 70 persons including students of Rathinam College, social activists and the public. Rajiv Srivatsav, Director, Forest College, was the chief guest, who inaugurated the programme by planting a sapling.

Referring to the programme, Ms. Ananda Vanitha, Chairperson of Wildlife Safety Net Trust, said that the dream of late President Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam was to see a green India and so in order to fulfill his dream, the tree planting programme by name Dream of Kalam was organized and 5 saplings were planted symbolically. A part of this programme is ‘One student one tree’, for which plans are afoot to visit all the schools and colleges in Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Valparai and Pollachi, to distribute free saplings and encourage each student to plant and maintain at least one tree.
