APJM Sheik Saleem, grandson of APJ Abdul Kalam, announced that he, along with other social activists, will soon be launching a social organization in Kalam’s name to fulfill the dreams of the former President of India.

He took part in the function organized by the Park Group of Institutions at the Tamil Nadu College of Engineering campus on Tuesday to pay tributes to Abdul Kalam as part of the ‘Keeping the Dreams Alive’ programme. Speaking at the function, he said, “Abdul Kalam had a vision to make India a superpower by 2020. He worked hard for making this dream come true even after his retirement. He used to travel nearly 25 days a month to various parts of the country to participate in various functions and interact with the students.

“He hoped that that India would be self reliant and self sufficient in all sectors including education, economy, agriculture, medicine, and science and technology.”

He declared he will launch a social organization on September 4 to make Kalam’s dreams come true. He invited the students to join hands with him to work for making India a superpower.

Social activist Abdul Ghani said, “Abdul Kalam did not spend any time for his personal entertainment. He met about 8 crore students across the country for planting his dreams. Our real tribute to him would be in fulfilling his ‘Vision 2020’ dream.”

Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner, K. Vijay Karthikeyan said, “We are fortunate to live in the times of Abdul Kalam. A self made personality, he become the people’s president and earned fame not because of his position, but by sheer hard work.”

P V. Ravi, Chairman of Park Group of Institutions; R Anusha, CEO of Park Group of Institutions; Sirpi Balasubramaniam, K. Subba Rao, and large number of school and college students were also present at the function.
