Kerala Governor’s slip of tongue

Justice P Sathasivam found himself in a slightly embarrassing situation when, while addressing a meeting in Coimbatore, he concluded with a Malayalam greeting. The slip was understandable because the judge is the Governor of Kerala.

After speaking eloquently in Tamil, he ended with wishing the audience in Malayalam, saying, “Ellavarkum ende aashamsakal” (my wishes to all). Realizing the error, he repeated the greeting in Tamil, with “Ellorukum ennudaya nenjaarnda nandri” (I thank all of you from my heart), and then explained that he suddenly forgot that he was back in Tamil Nadu.
