The person, Thangamani, who had received a new ATM card, failed to activate it at a Nationalised Bank, sought the help of another person yesterday.

After activating the card the man handed over it to Thangamani, who received a message from the bank stating that Rs.42,000 debited to his account– Rs.20,000 cash and Rs.22,000 worth gold ornaments from a shop, police said.
