Migrant worker caught between lift at Annapoorna Gowrishankar dies

A 41-year-old migrant worker from West Bengal working as a kitchen assistant Annapoorna Gowrishankar hotel at Ramanathapuram died on the spot after he got caught in the service lift on Tuesday.

According to police, the deceased has been identified as Thaimul Shaikh, son of Ektheja Shaikh from Basanthapur in West Bengal. He had been working as the kitchen assistant for the last four years in Sree Annapoorna Sree Gowrishankar Hotel near Ramanathapuram in the city.

On Tuesday, when he was using the service lift in the hotel, meant to carry cooked food in the hotel, he slipped from it and got caught inbetween the second floor and third floor at around 7:30am. 

When he was found nowhere in the hotel, the staff found him stuck inbetween the floors.

Based on the information, police and fire service personnel reached the spot and recovered the body from the lift and sent it to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for post-mortem.

A case has been registered under Section 174 of CrPC . The body was handed over to the relatives of the deceased and sent to his home town in the West Bengal.
