Coimbatore on Sunday bore witness to a spellbinding performance as iconic choreographer Dr.Anita Ratnam brought her acclaimed Andal production, Naachiyar Next, to the city for the very first time.
The powerful 70-minute dance show, presented by Kumaraguru Institutions and the Abhyasa Academy of Classical Dance, was held at the Ramanandha Adigalar Auditorium on the Kumaraguru Institution’s campus, and was met with overwhelming enthusiasm from the audience.
The production, a tribute to the mystic poet Andal, captivated attendees with its masterful blend of dance, theatre, music, and contemporary movements. Dr. Anita Ratnam’s unique and innovative dance style, Neo Bharatam, which combines different dance forms like Bharatanatyam, Kathakali, and Yoga, was at the forefront of the performance. The artistry on stage was a testament to her creative vision and her ability to tell stories that resonate deeply with audiences.
The collaboration between Kumaraguru Institutions and the Abhyasa Academy of Classical Dance was celebrated as a significant step in promoting and preserving India’s rich cultural heritage.
