Coimbatore, Aug 3: D. Pandian, the senior CPI leader, has urged the Modi-led NDA government to completely immediately ban the sale of liquor all over the country. The party has also called for a state-wide shutters-down of TASMAC shops on August 4 to condole the death of Sasi Perumal, the anti-liquor activist.

He has asked the ministers and senior BJP leaders from Tamil Nadu to ensure that the Prime Minister implements the ban.

CPI is planning a massive series of protests in Tamil Nadu on August 13 to oppose the controversial Land Acquisition Bill. The protests will be held in five cities – Chennai, Madurai, Coimbatore, Tirunelveli and Thanjavur.
