Native breeds among 530 for dog show

Around 530 dogs, including native breeds, will be on display during the dog shows to be organised here on June 18.

Organised by Anamalais Kennel Club, the show will display 11 major native breeds such as Rajapalayam and Chippiparai from Tamil Nadu, Mudhol hound from Karnataka,, Rampur and Caravan hounds from North India. This would be a rare occasion for dog lovers in this part of the country, club president Dr V S Ravi told mediapersons here today.

Similarly, 410 dogs from across country, representing 35 breeds, will participate in the show, he added.

In all there will be 46 breeds from India and 30 directly imported for the show which will be an annual feature, Ravi said.

So far, entries for 530 dogs had been received and more were expected.

The judges would be CV Sudarashan from Chennai and Preetham from Bengaluru for the foreign breeds and Yashodhara Hema Chandra from Bengaluru for the native ones.
