Coimbatore : NIA, probing the murder case of C Sasikumar, a Hindu Munnani spokesperson, today carried out raids on houses of five persons who reportedly had links with the accused.

The raids were conducted at the house of Febin Rehman at Selvapuram, Mohammed Ali of Vellakinaru, Saddam Hussain of Thudiyaluru, Hyder Ali of Sugnapuram and Hanees of G M Nagar and reportedly seized some electronic devices like mobile phones, as all them had spoken to the accused over a period of time, police said.

During the early morning swoop, which began around 4 am, the sleuths checked documents and other records available in the houses and also checked whether the five have any links with banned groups or links with the accused.

One of the accused was taken to a workshop near Sulur. Four persons have been arrested in connection with the murder, which occured on September 22, 2016, when Sasikumar was returning home at Thudiyalur. While two are out on bail, the others are lodged in Salem Central Jail.

Febin Rahman last week submitted a petition to the City Police Commissioner alleging that NIA sleuths were giving him and family mental torture under the pretext of inquiry and trying to take forced statements.
