Nine year old boy falls into tank, dies

Coimbatore : A nine-year old boy today met with watery grave, after he fell into big water tank in Ukkadam, the heart of city, where he had gone to catch fish.

Mohammed Shafiq, a 3rd standard student in a Corporation School and resident of Majid colony, had gone along with his friends to catch fish in the Valankulam tank, police said.

Shafiq suddenly slipped and fell into the tank. As his friends raised alarm, some passersby immediately jumped into the tank and brought him out and took him to the nearby Government Hospital.

However, the doctors, who attended to him declared Shafiq brought dead police said.
