The festive shopping of women’s major attraction is incomplete without ‘bindis’. Now, bright, colourful and intricately designed bindis can be bought online thanks to Bookmybindi.com, India’s first online portal for bindis, which was launched on October 29, 2015, in Chennai.

Known as pottu in Tamil, bindi is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘Bindu’ (dot), described as “the sacred symbol of the cosmos in its unmanifested state.” It is an auspicious symbol that covers the “the third eye chakra.” It has also been scientifically proven that wearing bindis gives relief from headache, clears sinus, strengthens facial muscles, beat wrinkles, reduces fine lines between the eyebrows, and beats insomnia.

A very sentimental issue, Bindi is an integral part of the Indian culture. Traditionally, bindis are round-shaped, and red and maroon are the preferred colours. A pinch of vermillion powder is skillfully applied with the ring finger on the forehead. It takes time to achieve the perfect round.

Talking about the grand launch of the website, Prabhleen Kaur, founder of Bookmybindi, said that her personal choice when it comes to bindis is simple yet classy. “Aroona B Bhat has designed the bindins that are sold on my website. We are pleased that the collection has found its way to the Limca Book of Records 2008 and 2009.” Prabhleen says. The founder of this website also shares that her bindis are safe on the skin.

Similarly, Aroona Bhat, a designer with more than one lakh bindis to her credit, said that the real bindi endorsers are the television stars and working women. Even celebrities from the West, like Gwen Stefani, Selena Gomez and Nicole Scherzinger, sport bindis.

The website offers bindis at prices starting from Rs.199 up to Rs.4999. All you need to do is go to www.bookmybindi.com, choose and order. The bindis will be door-delivered to you. The website offers its customers with cash on delivery option as well. They undertake delivery across India and require a minimum of seven to 10 days to deliver the product(s) once the order is confirmed.
