Open University accredits Isha Community College for vocational training

Coimbatore : Tamil Nadu Open University has accredited Isha Education Charitable Trust to start a Community College in Coimbatore to provide skill-based training.

Isha focuses on providing this training to rural, underprivileged youngsters. To start with, Isha will be offering 14 vocational diploma courses and increase the scope based on the inclinations of the rural community, a release said today.

The 14 courses to be conducted are. Diploma courses on Welding Technology, Industrial Fitter, Beautician, Fashion Design and Garment Making, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician, Automative Service Technician, Plumbing, DTP Operator, Computer Applications, Computer Hardware Servicing, General Duty Assistant, Multi Cuisine Cook, Mechanic (Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation) and Early Childhood Care and Education will be provided.

The scope will be increased based on the inclinations of the rural community.

Isha has tied up with a few local industries to provide internship to the students, thereby increasing their employability and is also set to tie up with many more industries to create employment opportunities for the students.

“Accreditation of Isha Community College by Tamil Nadu Open University begins a new chapter towards reaping the benefits of India’s demographic dividend by imparting skills to underprivileged youth of Tamil Nadu. Creating skilled, inspired and focused youth is the need of the hour.” Isha Foundation founder, Sadhguru Jaggi Vaasudev said in a twitter message.
