The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday urged the district administration to implement the Right to Education Act effectively in Coimbatore.
Claiming that the schools were not following the norms of the Act, the party, in a petition, said the administration should ensure transparency in this regard.
“The schools should distribute admission applications online and should not collect any fee from the students who are admitted under the provision,” said S.B. Dhamodharan, Joint Secretary of the district unit of the party.
“The schools should also display on notice boards about the norms given in the Act and the number of students admitted and their eligibility criteria. There should be enough awareness created among the people who do not know about the Act. Action should be taken against those who do not follow the rules,” Dhamodharan said.
